AP® Language & Composition

Our Boot Camp for the Language & Composition test is designed by Zach Sherman. Zach has taught high school English for 18 years. In that time, he has served as a humanities department chair, lead composition instructor, and a mentor teacher. Zach has also taught AP Language and Composition since 2008. He’s worked as an AP Reader and an AP Exam Presenter for the National Math and Science Institute. He currently lives and teaches in the Houston area with his wife and three kids. h Sherman.

AP® History

Prepare for AP® World History, AP® European History, or AP® United States History

Our AP® History classes are designed by Dr. John Irish to give students a boost on the World History, European History, and U.S. History tests. Dr. Irish taught AP® U.S. History, AP® Lang and Comp, American Studies AP®, and Special Topics in Humanities for over 25 years in Carroll ISD and Katy ISD. He is a nationally certified consultant in AP® U.S. History for the College Board and has served as a Question Leader, Table Leader, and Reader for the AP® U.S. History Exam. He was a member of the College Board AP® U.S. History Test Development Committee for ten years (was the co-Chair for two years and the CBA for two years) which was the group responsible for creating the new exam, overseeing continuing changes to the curriculum, and developing / presenting trainings for teachers across the country at state and national venues. He has published three books in the series on the Historical Thinking Skills for the redesigned AP History courses which are published by W.W. Norton. He has become one of the co-authors and AP® contributors of the Alan Brinkley textbook, American History, beginning with the updated 16th edition. Dr. Irish holds a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy, a M.A. in Philosophy (thesis topic: John Locke’s Theory of Property), a M.L.S. in Humanities (thesis topic: The Enlightened Puritan: the Intellectual Thought of John Adams), and a D.L.S. in Humanities (dissertation topic: Social Thought in the Life, Times, and Writings of Fitz-James O’Brien) from Southern Methodist University. The focus for his dissertation research was on early 19th century American thought, with special emphasis on the writings of Fitz-James O’Brien – the Irish Poe. He has published many articles and is currently editing a three-volume edition of Fitz-James O’Brien’s complete speculative fiction and poetry with Swan River Press. He was the Gilder Lehrman U.S. History Teacher of the Year for Texas in 2020.
